What makes a synthetic wig different from a human wig?

Unlike synthetic hair wigs, human hair wigs provide a more natural look and feel. Synthetically, the hair is difficult to replicate because it is soft, shiny, and has movement that is hard to replicate. Synthetic wigs are easy to take care of. Because they have something called “style retention”. You simply wash, dry and then shake them out, and the wig will return to its initial style. Heat can damage synthetic wigs so we would advise to avoid, due to melting or burning the wig strands. However, due to the advancement of wig technology, some wigs can withstand higher temperatures with extra special attention.

MAINTENANCE

 

Human hair	Just like real hair, human hair wigs need to be washed, deep-conditioned and re-styled frequently.
Synthetic	They require very little maintenance. This is important to consider if you are experiencing health issues and not feeling well.

 

WEATHER

 

Human Hair	Like your own hair would, human hair wigs react to the weather and can become frizzy, limp or dry.
Synthetic	Synthetic wigs hold their style regardless of the weather.

 

LONGEVITY

 

Human Hair	With proper care, human hair wigs can last a year or more when worn daily. But if styled repeatedly by heated styling tools or subjected to hard brushing, the hair will become damaged.
Synthetic	Synthetic wigs and toppers do not last as long as human hair wigs. They typically last about 4-6 months with daily wear.

COLOUR

 

Human Hair	It is difficult to replicate an exact colour of your hair or wish to purchase a backup of the same style. Human hair wigs of the same colour will vary slightly from wig too wig because each wig contains hair harvested from multiple people.The colour of a human hair wig will oxidise or fade with exposure too light.
Synthetic	You can choose from an array of natural colours, as well as several fantasy colours. Recolouring is not recommended for synthetic wigs, so make sure you choose a colour you will want to stick to.
